But I have taken notice of the Texas wine scene here in Lubbock.

The local wineries plus Becker and Fredericksburg are available in many places. I don't have them in my shop because they are in most grocery stores. People in Lubbock seem to support Texas wine very well, so I've had a few smaller labels on my shelf from time to time. I also have spoken to many wineries and let them know that I am interested in buying if they can get the product to me when they are in town for other reasons rather than paying shipping. Texas has several quality wines that either don't have a distributor or don't distribute in west Texas. That's unfortunate and true with several wines, not just Texas. We just don't get the variety larger cities get unless we are creative.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05845693991588718286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7647685272969139173.post-13995060926518052142012-08-21T19:41:44.619-07:002012-08-21T19:41:44.619-07:00Don't let the suited Somms intimidate you, the...Don't let the suited Somms intimidate you, they just want to look polished and professional, but basically, it's their uniform.

Just remember that that wine can be as simple or as complex as you want to make it. It is made for a relaxing quaff after work or it can be a topic of indepth study (regions, varietals, wine/food pairing and, oh yes, don't forget malolatic fermentation - that's a course of study all in its own right).

I'd like to know what Texas wines are generally available in Lubbock, particularly those that are made "Texas Appellation" which is a fancy way to say "Made from at least 75% Texas grapes", and those that are made from Texas High Plains grapes.

Russ Kane
VintageTexasRuss Kanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17938348975026217521noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7647685272969139173.post-5580840723832001262012-08-16T05:41:48.937-07:002012-08-16T05:41:48.937-07:00Duchman is out of stock right now, but they will b...Duchman is out of stock right now, but they will be back. I met them at Texsom and told them I would like more the next time someone comes out here. Most of us will never appreciate a wine that is supposed to taste spoiled, but that doesn't mean we should feel left out of the fun. :-)Susan Tomlinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01532464326705599296noreply@blogger.com
